The Kyrgyz presidential administration announced the appointment of Zhumgalbek Shabdanbekov as Chairman of the State Committee for National Security (SCNS) of the republic.

Shabdanbekov was born on September 22, 1970. He graduated with a degree in economics from the Jusup Balasagyn Kyrgyz National University, after which he began his career in the tax service. He joined the national security agencies in 1994, where he worked on state security, counterterrorism, and anti-corruption efforts.

In 2020, Shabdanbekov was appointed Deputy Chairman of the State Committee for National Security and headed the agency's 9th Service. In 2022, he was promoted to the rank of Major General.
