Turkmenistan's Ambassador to Belarus, Nazarguly Shagulyev, met with Russia's new Permanent Representative to the CIS statutory and other bodies, Alexander Lukashevich, according to the Turkmen diplomatic mission in Minsk.

During the talks, the parties discussed the priorities of Turkmenistan's chairmanship of the Commonwealth of Independent States in 2026, as well as preparations for the celebration of the 35th anniversary of Turkmenistan's independence.

Shagulyev briefed his Russian counterpart on the meaning of the national motto for 2026: "Independent, neutral Turkmenistan – the homeland of purposeful winged steeds." According to the Turkmen side, the image of the Ahal-Teke horse reflects the nature of the country's foreign policy and will form the basis of this year's anniversary events.

The diplomats also discussed bilateral cooperation between Turkmenistan and Russia within the CIS in the context of ensuring regional stability.

Lukashevich congratulated the Turkmen side on the upcoming anniversary of its independence and confirmed Moscow's readiness to actively support the implementation of Ashgabat's initiatives within the Commonwealth.
