Neutrality provides Turkmenistan with a positive international image – MGIMO professor

Permanent neutrality status provides Turkmenistan with a positive international image and allows it to make a significant contribution to global decision-making, said MGIMO Vice-Rector and Professor Vladimir Morozov on the sidelines of the international seminar "High-Level Dialogue on Global Health Diplomacy."

"The status of neutrality is extremely important in today's world, where, unfortunately, conflicts and crises persist. For Turkmenistan, this is a prestigious status for a country that, in the best sense of the word, promotes the ideals of peace, stability, and mutual understanding." "The principle of non-interference in the internal affairs of other states fosters an exclusively positive image of the country. We have always supported Turkmenistan's neutrality and expect Ashgabat to continue to serve as a credible platform for peace negotiations," Morozov was quoted as saying by the online newspaper "Golden Age."

According to him, Turkmenistan is skillfully and effectively positioning itself on the global stage, becoming a decision-making center.

"Organizing major international events in Ashgabat strengthens the country's image. Discussing healthcare issues within this dialogue demonstrates that Turkmenistan is not only participating in global processes but also making a significant contribution to the development of solutions that are significant for all of humanity," the professor noted.

Morozov also addressed Turkmen diplomacy students, urging them to thoroughly study their profession and respect the cultures of other peoples. "Every state exists in both a global and a regional context, so it is essential to deeply understand global processes and to learn about and respect the cultures and traditions of other peoples. This is the algorithm for transforming the world for the better," he concluded.

The Russian expert also congratulated Turkmenistan on its 30th anniversary of neutrality and noted the humanitarian mission of this status in modern geopolitics.

A high-level dialogue on global health diplomacy is taking place in Turkmenistan from February 16 to 18. Experts from Azerbaijan, Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, and Türkiye are participating in the event.
