Turkmen President Serdar Berdimuhamedov is a welcome guest in Brussels, said Beata Peksa, the European Union Ambassador to Ashgabat, at a briefing at the Turkmen Foreign Ministry.
"President Serdar Berdimuhamedov is a more than welcome guest in Brussels for meetings with the Presidents of the Commission, Council, Parliament, and Commissioners. The decision has been made; everyone is just waiting for the date to be confirmed," she said.
According to Peksa, the upcoming visit's agenda is broad and covers political consultations, energy security, education, and youth cooperation. The only obstacle to the visit remains choosing a suitable date, given the busy schedules of the European leadership.
Turkmenistan's Deputy Foreign Minister Mahri Bashimova, in turn, confirmed that negotiations on the visit's timing are ongoing. She also stated that a package of documents for signing is planned for the meeting. "When the dates and timelines are finalized, we will, of course, communicate further," she added.
A briefing on cooperation between Turkmenistan and the European Union was held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan on February 17. The event summarized the results of cooperation for 2025 and identified key partnership priorities for 2026. Representatives of the Turkmen Ministry of Foreign Affairs, diplomatic missions accredited in the country, EU institutions, and the media participated.
