On February 10, a quadrilateral meeting of the heads of railway departments from the four countries took place in Ashgabat. Turkmenistan was represented by Minister of Railway Transport Mammed Akmamedov, along with Chairman of Azerbaijan Railways CJSC Rovshan Rustamov, Chairman of the Board of Uzbekistan Railways JSC Zufar Narzullaev, and General Director of Georgian Railways JSC Lasha Abashidze, according to the Azerbaijani diplomatic mission in Turkmenistan.
During the meeting, the parties discussed issues of mutual interest, as well as opportunities for expanding cooperation in the field of rail transport. Particular attention was paid to the development of the Middle Corridor, one of the region's main transit routes.
The meeting participants exchanged views on enhancing the competitiveness of the Middle Corridor and increasing freight volumes along this route. The importance of digitalizing operations to speed up freight transportation was emphasized.
Following the four-party negotiations, a protocol was signed covering areas such as digitalization and development of freight transport along the Middle Corridor, as well as diagnostics of the corridor.
