A meeting dedicated to the 585th anniversary of Alisher Navoi was held at the Children's Library of Turkmenistan

The Bazar Amanov State Children's Library of Turkmenistan recently hosted a meeting with young readers—students of Ashgabat Art School No. 4—dedicated to the 585th anniversary of the birth of the great Eastern poet Alisher Navoi. This was reported on the website of the Ministry of Culture of Turkmenistan.

During the meeting, the children learned about the life and work of Alisher Navoi, revered as a great master of Eastern literature. He is also known as a statesman of his time, a skilled linguist, and a renowned artist.

During his stay in Merv, Navoi had a positive influence on prominent figures of Turkmen classical literature. His poems have been set to music by Turkmen folk musicians. The Turkmen dutar has musical modes called "Navoi modes" (Nowaýy perdesi). Music known as "Navoi" is also popular among the people.

Alisher Navoi's poem "Farhad and Shirin" from his collection "Khamsa" was also discussed during the meeting.

This meeting was featured in the "Happy Childhood" program on “Ashgabat” TV, a Turkmen television channel.
