The international tourist train Jibek Joly (Silk Road) will for the first time connect Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, and Tajikistan as part of a single route along the ancient trade route between East and West. This was announced by the press service of the national railway operator Kazakhstan Temir Zholy (KTZ).
"From March 20 to 25, 2026, the international tourist train Jibek Joly will connect Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, and Tajikistan within the framework of a single cultural and educational route. For the first time in the project's history, the route has been extended to Dushanbe," the statement reads.
The route will run along the following route: Almaty – Turkestan – Samarkand – Dushanbe – Tashkent – Almaty. Tour participants will become acquainted with the traditions of the peoples of Central Asia, as well as the region's national rituals and music.
An agreement to launch tourist trains between Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan was reached at the end of 2024.
