Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad Al-Thani Elected President of the Olympic Council of Asia

TASHKENT — Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad Al-Thani, President of the Qatar Olympic Committee, has been elected as the President of the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA). The election took place during the organization’s 46th General Assembly in Tashkent, as reported by a Turkmenportal correspondent.

A Vision for Unity and Diversity

In his inaugural address, the newly elected OCA President emphasized the importance of collaboration across the region:

"Asia is the largest and most diverse continent within the Olympic family. This diversity is our greatest strength, but it also demands unity rooted in mutual respect and our shared commitment to Olympic values."

Sheikh Joaan highlighted that through unity, the Council can transform this diversity into tangible opportunities, empowering National Olympic Committees and providing a platform for youth to succeed on the global sporting stage.
