Turkmenistan participates in the 46th General Assembly of the Olympic Council of Asia in Tashkent

Today, the capital of Uzbekistan is hosting the 46th General Assembly of the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA), a key event in the continent's sporting life. Delegates from 45 countries are attending the event, discussing the development of the Olympic movement in Asia and electing the organization's new president.

Turkmenistan is represented at the Assembly by an official delegation. Ata Akmammedov, Secretary General of the National Olympic Committee of Turkmenistan, is participating in the event. Allaberdy Saparov, Chairman of the State Committee of Turkmenistan for Physical Culture and Sports, is also participating. The online publication Turkmenportal is invited to the event as a media participant.

One of the main events of the assembly is the election of a new OCA president. The only candidate for the post is Sheikh Joan bin Hamad Al Thani, President of the Qatar Olympic Committee. The election is being held because the current OCA president, Raja Randhir Singh of India, is unable to complete his term due to health reasons.

At the General Assembly, participants consider strategic issues, including plans for the development of sport in Asia through 2028. Particular attention is paid to the digital transformation of sports institutions and the strengthening of the role of youth in the Olympic movement.
