Bulgaria has its first female head of state

On January 23, the Bulgarian Constitutional Court upheld the early termination of President Rumen Radev's term of office following his resignation. The court's decision entered into force the same day, according to 24kz.

According to the country's constitution, the presidential duties automatically transferred to Vice President Iliana Yotova, who held the position under Radev.

Thus, Yotova became the first woman in Bulgaria's history to hold the presidency.
