The President of Turkmenistan held an extended meeting of the Security Council

Turkmen President Serdar Berdimuhamedov held an extended on-site meeting of the State Security Council, where the results of the security agencies' work for 2025 were reviewed and objectives for the current year were set, according to the State News Agency of Turkmenistan.

The heads of law enforcement agencies delivered reports at the meeting. The head of state gave instructions on modernizing the Armed Forces' material and technical infrastructure, improving service conditions for military personnel, and introducing digital technologies into law enforcement operations.

During the meeting, Serdar Berdimuhamedov dismissed Yazgeldi Nuryev, head of the State Border Service, due to his transfer to another position. Ilaman Ilamanov, previously deputy head of the agency, was appointed the new head of the border service.

The President emphasized the importance of ensuring reliable protection of the state border and the use of advanced technologies and modern equipment in this area.

Serdar Berdimuhamedov also congratulated the meeting participants on the upcoming Defender of the Fatherland Day on January 27 and signed decrees awarding state decorations and conferring military and special ranks to military personnel and law enforcement officers.

The head of state noted that Turkmenistan will celebrate the 35th anniversary of independence in 2026 and gave a number of instructions on preparations for the celebration.
