Turkmen President Serdar Berdimuhamedov has ordered strict oversight of payments between cotton and wheat producers and service companies in the regions for the 2024-2025 cotton harvest and the 2025-2026 wheat harvest. This was announced following a working meeting between the head of state and Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers T. Atahalliyev and regional governors.
According to the State News Agency of Turkmenistan, the meeting addressed the development of the agricultural sector and the progress of work in the country's regions.
Deputy Prime Minister T. Atahalliyev reported on the progress of seasonal agricultural work. Wheat fields are being tended in accordance with agricultural standards, including mineral fertilization, with special attention paid to the efficient operation of agricultural machinery.
In preparation for cotton sowing, plowing, leveling, and fertilizing the land with mineral fertilizers continue. Measures are being taken to provide cotton growers with high-quality seeds. Agricultural machinery is being prepared for the season.
Summarizing the report, Serdar Berdimuhamedov noted the strategic role of the agricultural sector in the national economy and instructed the Deputy Prime Minister to continue efforts to further develop agriculture.
The President emphasized the importance of proper field maintenance, plowing and leveling cotton fields in accordance with agricultural standards, providing producers with high-quality seeds, and preparing equipment for spring sowing.
In addition, the head of state instructed the government to monitor the progress of the sugar beet harvest in the Mary velayat within the established agronomic deadlines, the proper functioning of heating systems in residential buildings, schools, and kindergartens, the provision of electricity, natural gas, and drinking water to the population, and the construction of socio-cultural and industrial facilities scheduled for commissioning in the regions this year.
