Samsung announced the Exynos Modem 5410, which enables voice and video calls, messaging, and satellite location services without a cellular connection, according to Techradar.
The new modem supports 5G data rates of up to 14,79 Gbps and integrates three communication standards: LTE DTC for audio and video transmission, NB-IoT NTN for text messaging, and NR-NTN for more bandwidth-intensive tasks.
Samsung is partnering with US satellite service provider Skylo to implement satellite communications, which may result in regional limitations.
The company simultaneously unveiled the Exynos 2600 mobile processor, designed for use in the Galaxy Z Flip8 and Galaxy S26 smartphones.
There has been no official confirmation of the inclusion of a satellite modem in the Galaxy S26 series of smartphones. According to media reports, the Galaxy S26 is expected to be unveiled in February 2026.
