The group stage draw for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, which will take place from June 11 to July 19 in the United States, Canada, and Mexico, took place in Miami. For the first time in history, the tournament will feature 48 teams divided into 12 groups of four.
The Uzbekistan national team is in group K along with Portugal and Colombia. The fourth team in the group will be the winner of the first-leg intercontinental playoffs—one of the following teams: New Caledonia, Jamaica, or the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
Other groups include: group C, featuring Brazil, Morocco, Haiti, and Scotland; Group F, where the Netherlands will face Japan and Tunisia; Group H, featuring Spain and Uruguay; and group J, featuring Argentina and Austria.
The tournament hosts also learned their opponents: Mexico will play in group A, Canada in group B, and the United States will top group D, which includes Paraguay and Australia.
Currently, 42 teams have secured World Cup spots. The remaining six teams will be determined by the results of the playoffs, which will take place at the end of March 2026. Four spots will be contested by European teams in the playoffs, with the other two going to the winners of the intercontinental playoffs.
The tournament's playoffs will include not only the group winners and runners-up, but also the eight best third-place teams. The playoffs begin with the Round of 32.
