From August to October of this year, the average time for clearing vehicles carrying export and transit cargo at Turkmenistan's automobile customs checkpoints in Garabogaz, Farap, and Dashoguz was 37 minutes, the best indicator among countries in the region.
These data are provided on the website of the State Customs Service of Turkmenistan as the result of research conducted by the German Society for International Cooperation (GIZ), which analyzed the time and costs required for the export and transit of goods across the borders of Central Asian countries.
Thus, according to the data received, in Kazakhstan this time is 1 hour 30 minutes, in Tajikistan – 1 hour 40 minutes, in Kyrgyzstan – 1 hour 44 minutes, in Uzbekistan – 1 hour 10 minutes.
An analysis of queues at customs borders also reveals the high efficiency of Turkmen border crossings. Specifically, the average wait time at customs checkpoints in Turkmenistan was up to 35 minutes, compared to over two days in Kazakhstan, 1 hour 15 minutes in Tajikistan, 40 minutes in Kyrgyzstan, and 12 hours 20 minutes in Uzbekistan.
These figures confirm Turkmenistan's growing role as a reliable transit bridge between Asia and Europe, the source notes.
