Counterpoint Research predicts that Apple could overtake Samsung in smartphone shipments by 2025 for the first time in 14 years. Experts estimate that the American company will ship 243 million devices, while the South Korean manufacturer will ship 235 million, according to vc.ru.
These figures will give Apple a 19,4% share of the global smartphone market, one percentage point more than Samsung. Analysts note that Apple's sales could grow by approximately 9% this year, while Samsung's are projected to grow by 5%, with a market share of 18,7%.
The global smartphone market, according to Counterpoint Research, is expected to grow by approximately 3,3% in 2025. Chinese manufacturers, including Xiaomi, Transsion, vivo, and Oppo, are showing more modest growth, with growth of approximately 1,7%.
Counterpoint Senior Analyst Yan Wang attributes Apple's success to the positive reception of the iPhone 17 and the device upgrade cycle. Many owners of smartphones purchased during the COVID-19 pandemic are ready to replace their devices.
