The presidents of Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan, Serdar Berdimuhamedov and Shavkat Mirziyoyev, held talks in Tashkent, during which they agreed to expand trade, economic, and multifaceted cooperation, and exchanged views on regional and international issues, according to the Turkmenistan newspaper.

The meeting took place at the Kuksaroy Palace within the framework of the President of Turkmenistan's state visit to Uzbekistan.

The parties discussed the development of bilateral relations, regional and international issues, including coordinating efforts through consultative meetings of the heads of state of Central Asia, the International Fund for Saving the Aral Sea, regional security, and the reconstruction of Afghanistan.

Serdar Berdimuhamedov proposed holding the next meeting of the Turkmen-Uzbek Business Council and the third interregional forum in 2026, as well as opening trading houses of both countries in Ashgabat and Tashkent. The President of Turkmenistan noted the conditions for fully realizing the trade and economic potential of the two countries.

Today, the Turkmen-Uzbek Border Trade Center, which is expected to facilitate the expansion of mutual trade, was officially opened. The Turkmen leader also put forward initiatives to develop cooperation in the transport, energy, agricultural, and chemical sectors, as well as in culture, science, education, sports, and healthcare.
