Turkmen President Serdar Berdimuhamedov met with Asian Development Bank (ADB) President Masato Kanda. The two discussed prospects for developing bilateral economic partnership, the State News Agency of Turkmenistan reports.
Kanda noted the important role of neutral Turkmenistan in strengthening peace and stability in Central Asia. He stated that the ADB highly values the reforms aimed at diversifying the country's national economy.
Serdar Berdimuhamedov emphasized the effectiveness of Turkmenistan's long-standing cooperation with the ADB. Over the past 25 years, the bank has participated in financing projects in the electric power, infrastructure, and railway sectors, the President noted.
The head of Turkmenistan noted the importance of projects implemented within the Central Asia Regional Economic Cooperation (CAREC) program. They contribute to the development of the country's economic, trade, transport, and energy systems.
He emphasized that Turkmenistan supports the use of new forms of cooperation between the ADB and national banks and the private sector. Particular attention should be paid to financial, credit, and advisory services for small and medium-sized businesses, the head of state added.
