The Turkmengas state concern has suspended natural gas supplies to Türkiye, which began in March. This was announced by the concern's chairman, Maksat Babayev, at a press conference following the International Conference "Oil and Gas of Turkmenistan – 2025."
When asked about the current status of supplies, the head of Turkmengas confirmed their suspension. Babayev recalled that gas exports to Türkiye began in March of this year, and the contract stipulates the supply of 2 billion cubic meters per year.
Turkmengas Deputy Chairman Murat Archayev explained that the suspension is due to the need to resolve a number of issues. "This is a pilot project, so all possible pitfalls that may arise are being considered," he said.
According to Archayev, Turkmengas is technically fully prepared to supply the contract with natural gas.
"The Turkish side is very pleased with this start of deliveries. We also support this, and once the current issues are resolved, deliveries will continue under the signed contract," the concern representative emphasized.
The International Conference and Exhibition "Oil and Gas of Turkmenistan 2025" (OGT 2025) was held in Ashgabat from October 22-24. Over 1400 delegates and enterprises from 70 countries, local energy companies, relevant ministries and industry agencies of Turkmenistan, and international organizations participated in the events. The forum was organized by the Turkmen Energy Forum, the state concerns “Turkmengaz” and “Turkmennebit”, and the state corporation “Turkmengeologiya”.
