A briefing on the development of Uzbekistan's tourism industry was held in Ashgabat. Representatives of the Uzbek side discussed achievements in tourism and prospects for international cooperation.
According to the presentation, Uzbekistan welcomed 8,6 million foreign tourists from January to September 2025, a 112,5% increase compared to the same period last year. Since April of this year, the country has attracted over 1 million foreign visitors per month.
The development of the tourism industry is being implemented within the framework of the Tourism Development Strategy to 2030. According to the document, the annual flow of foreign tourists is planned to increase to 15 million by the end of the decade.
Among the results achieved were the introduction of a visa-free regime for citizens of more than 90 countries, improved infrastructure, and the introduction of digital services, including the Uzbekistan.travel portal and the UzTourism mobile app.
From October 28 to November 13, 2025, Samarkand will host the 43rd session of the UNESCO General Conference. For the first time in 40 years, the forum will be held outside the organization's Paris headquarters. More than 5 thousand delegates from 194 countries are expected to attend.
The Uzbek side has invited Turkmen companies, investors, and tour operators to participate in joint projects. The creation of cross-border tourist routes is being considered, specifically the "Khiva - Kunya Urgench - Ashgabat - Mary - Bukhara" route.
The Tashkent International Tourism Fair is scheduled for November 27-29, 2025.
