Turkmen President Serdar Berdimuhamedov concluded his working visit to Tajikistan, during which he participated in the regular meeting of the Council of Heads of State of the Commonwealth of Independent States and the Central Asia–Russia summit, the State News Agency of Turkmenistan reports.
The CIS summit was held at the Kasri Millat Palace in Dushanbe under the chairmanship of Tajik President Emomali Rahmon. The leaders of Azerbaijan, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Russia, the Prime Minister of Armenia, and the CIS Secretary General participated in the meeting.
The agenda included issues of partnership and integration within the CIS. During the meeting, the Commonwealth's activities this year were summarized and priorities for the coming period were identified. The parties discussed current issues on the international and regional agendas.
The President of Tajikistan announced the transfer of the CIS chairmanship to Turkmenistan in 2026. Following the summit, a number of documents were adopted.
Following the completion of his visit, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov departed from Dushanbe International Airport to his homeland, where he was met by officials.
As noted, the President of Turkmenistan's participation in the Central Asia-Russia Summit and the CIS Council of Heads of State meeting demonstrated the country's commitment to multifaceted cooperation with all stakeholders. Ashgabat continues to strengthen its position as a reliable partner in the Commonwealth of Independent States.
