The Nurmuhammed Andalib State Musical and Drama Theater of the Dashoguz Region is staging the comedy "The Chioggia Gatherings" by Italian playwright and theater reformer Carlo Goldoni, according to "Turkmenistan: The Golden Age."
The director of the new production is Bekmurad Hallyev.
The comedy was written in 1761 and is also known as "The Chioggia Quarrel" or "The Quarrel in Chioggia."
Full of sparkling humor, this colorful, dynamic two-act play depicts the daily life and personalities of the inhabitants of the fishing town of Chioggia, located near Venice. Here, the wives, fiancées, and sisters of the fishermen while away the time waiting for their men to set out to sea. Everything seems to be as usual, but the traditional teasing and banter, the inevitable rivalry between the women, this time leads to a stormy development and affects the relationship of the two couples in love. But the ending is happy—everything ends with reconciliation and the triumph of love.
Director B. Hallyev notes:
"By drawing on the best works of world literature, we strive to contribute to the cause of peace, friendship, and cultural cooperation. The theater's artists involved in the new comedy include D. Myadaliev, N. Hydyrova, H. Dovlyev, D. Bekdurdyev, M. Aristanova, O. Shyhyeva, and others. Sh. Shyhyeva is the production designer. F. Eminov also played an active role in the production."
