Schoolchildren from Turkmenistan have set off for the World Junior Mental Arithmetic Championships, which will be held from October 4 to 6 in Bielefeld, Germany.
As reported by Turkmenistan: Golden Age, the Turkmen junior team included 8 students from the Kämil bilim training center, including: Omar Akmyradov, Abdullah Bayramgeldiyev, Livanur Berdiyeva, Hatyja Durdymammedova, Patma Gundogdyeva, Allaguly Yusupov, Yenish Cherkezov and Mekan Nurgeldiyev.
The team was formed in April of this year following a special competition. Under conditions similar to the World Championship, the students were able to correctly answer all questions orally (from memory) in two hours and earned the right to go to Germany.
The World Mental Arithmetic Championship has been held since 2008, annually attracting over 100 participants from nearly 20 countries. Contestants compete in three age groups.
Young Turkmen citizens will demonstrate their skills in mental calculations, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division, as well as more complex subjects such as factoring and working with fractions. According to the rules, participants must solve all problems orally (from memory) within two hours.
We wish them good luck!
