Representatives of the Magtymguly Institute of Language, Literature and National Manuscripts of the Academy of Sciences of Turkmenistan took part in the international scientific and practical conference "Beket Ata Myrzagululy - a pillar of spirituality", which was held in Aktau, Kazakhstan.
According to the newspaper "Turkmenistan", scientists from Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan, Turkey and Uzbekistan participated in the scientific forum, organized by the International Organization of Turkic Culture (TURKSOY).
The conference was dedicated to the 275th anniversary of the birth of the Kazakh educator Beket Ata Myrzagullu, who enriched Sufi teachings with philosophical views of humanism, friendship, and brotherhood among peoples.
The speeches by Turkmen scholars extensively discussed the role of Beket Ata, who is canonized in the national traditions of the Turkmen people.
Turkmen scholars also extensively covered the historical roots of the literary heritage of the Turkmen-Kazakh people. In particular, the conference participants were greatly interested in their views on the commonality of images and motifs in ancient epics such as "Oguznama," "Gorkut-ata," and "Gorogly," which are considered a treasure trove of the literary heritage of both peoples. The fact that Ugurjigy, the son of the wise Turkmen elder Gorkut-ata, settled in the steppes of Mangyshlak is also a generally accepted scientific fact.
Within the framework of the conference, the Turkmen delegation held a number of meetings. For example, Turkmen scholars met with Kazakh elders. During the conversation, opinions were expressed on the historical roots of Turkmen-Kazakh friendly and fraternal relations.
Also, in a conversation with Talgat Mukhanov, Director of Planning for the Turkic Culture and Heritage Foundation, an exchange of views took place on the national heritage of the Turkic peoples and manuscript sources.
In a conversation with Nurlan Kulbay, Head of the Department for the Registration of State Historical and Cultural Reserves and the Protection of Monuments of the Mangystau Region of the Republic of Kazakhstan, who actively participated in organizing the international conference, scientific information on the historical monuments of the Turkic tribes that inhabited the Mangyshlak territory was discussed.
