An earthquake occurred in the capital region of Kyrgyzstan on Thursday. According to the republic's seismology institute, the tremors were registered at 13:57 local time (10:57 Moscow time), vedomosti.ru reports.
The magnitude of the earthquake was 4,3. The epicenter was located 20 kilometers southeast of Bishkek, near the village of Besh-Kyungey, at a depth of about one kilometer.
The intensity of the tremors at the epicenter reached 4,5 points on the local scale. In the capital of Kyrgyzstan, Bishkek, the earthquake's strength was 4 points. Residents of the city began to feel the vibrations at about 14:00 local time.
There is currently no information about possible consequences of the earthquake or material damage.
The day before, on September 11, seismologists also recorded an earthquake of magnitude 4,5 in the Pacific Ocean near the Northern Kuril Islands, which did not pose a threat to the region's population.
