An exhibition of applied art works, “Amu Darya River Day,” has opened at the State Museum of Fine Arts of Turkmenistan. All exhibits are dedicated to a relevant topic – preserving the purity of water bodies.
The exhibition was held under the auspices of Climate-Smart Water Management in Central Asia, reports Turkmenistan: Golden Age.

Students from art schools in the cities of Farab, Tejen, and Gekdere responded to this event with great enthusiasm.
A very important point in the action is the fact that in some cases family exhibits were on display at the exhibition. Thus, a model of one of the corners of the natural landscape of the Amu Darya was created by Anna Girchenko and her seven-year-old grandson Stepan. All the details of the model are made from recycled materials - plastic bottles, egg trays, a sponge for washing dishes, matches.

The central exhibit of the exhibition is a portrait of the Amu Darya River in the form of a woman-mother, made by Nazilya Guseinova and her daughter Anakhanum from black and white cellophane bags. From the portrait, an elderly woman looks reproachfully at the visitors of the exhibition.

- A large amount of plastic pollutes water bodies that give life to humans and the environment. The purpose of this exhibition is to reach people's consciousness, to help water bodies get rid of garbage, - says Nazilya.
Photojournalist of the newspaper "Turkmen gundogary" Merdan Orazov presented an exhibition of photo sketches about the Amu Darya.

Professional artist Dmitry Filipchenko collaborated with his son Andrey. They created a model of a sturgeon fish species that is disappearing in the Amu Darya – the shovelnose catfish.
It is noteworthy that people of all ages, including pensioners, took part in the event together with children. They gladly took a master class on painting shoppers and joined the ranks of fighters for a clean environment, because canvas bags in the modern world have become some kind of symbols of boycotting cellophane bags.
