Turkmen President Serdar Berdimuhamedov proposed that the countries of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) initiate a partnership in the field of shipbuilding, the State News Agency of Turkmenistan reports.
"Speaking of sea transportation, it would be appropriate, in our opinion, to initiate cooperation in shipbuilding. Many SCO countries have significant production capacities and extensive experience in this area. Turkmenistan is also actively developing national shipbuilding, and I believe that partnership in this industry can bring tangible mutual benefits," the statement says.
The SCO summit was held in Tianjin, China, from August 31 to September 1, and was attended by more than 20 leaders, as well as representatives of international organizations.
