Turkmenistan will build a mosque in the Azerbaijani city of Fizuli as a gift. This was announced by Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev at a joint press conference following a trilateral meeting involving Turkmenistan, Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan, Orient reports.
"During his stay in Fizuli, the National Leader of the Turkmen people Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov proposed the construction of a mosque as a gift from Turkmenistan. I accepted this proposal with gratitude," Aliyev said. According to him, the architectural design of the mosque has already been prepared, and its foundation will be laid in the near future.
The press conference was attended by the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev.
The summit was held in the “Avaza” National Tourist Zone. Following the trilateral summit, the leaders of Turkmenistan, Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan adopted a joint statement. Memorandums were signed in the fields of civil aviation, shipbuilding, transport and logistics cooperation, as well as a protocol on establishing sister city relations between the Turkmen city of Arkadag and the Azerbaijani city of Fizuli.
