The Indian Ministry of External Affairs has appointed Bandara Wilsonbabu as Ambassador to Turkmenistan, ANI reports.
Wilsonbabu is currently India's Ambassador to Madagascar. He was previously Joint Secretary in the Eurasian Division of the Foreign Ministry.
"He is expected to assume his duties shortly," the statement said.
The diplomat will replace Madhumita Hazarika Bhagat, who has been serving as India's Ambassador to Turkmenistan since February 2024.
