President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov sent a congratulatory letter to the Hero of Turkmenistan, People's Writer Amangozel Shagulyeva on the occasion of her 85th birthday, the State News Agency of Turkmenistan reports.
In his congratulations, the head of state noted the poetess’s significant contribution to the development of the country’s national literature and culture.
“We are immensely proud of your poems and verses, which extol the grand achievements of our Fatherland and the historically significant events of the current era,” the President wrote.
Serdar Berdimuhamedov emphasized that Shagulyeva's works are of great importance for the patriotic education of the younger generation and the establishment of the ideals of unity, humanism and nobility in society. The President especially noted the poetess's role as a mentor for the new generation of Turkmen writers who follow the "mentor-student" tradition that has been perfected over the centuries.
The letter also notes Shagulyeva's international activities to popularize Turkmen literature in the world. The poetess has performed at events in dozens of countries and made a significant contribution to familiarizing foreign readers with national poetry, and has also translated works by outstanding world writers into Turkmen.
For her merits, Amangozel Shagulyeva was awarded the highest degree of distinction “Hero of Turkmenistan”, the honorary title “People’s Writer of Turkmenistan”, the International Magtymguly Prize and other state awards.
