President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov met with the President of the Democratic Republic of Sao Tome and Principe Carlos Manuel Vila Nova, the news program "Watan" reported.
The meeting took place in Avaza on the sidelines of the Third UN Conference on Landlocked Developing Countries.
As noted, during the meeting, the President of the Democratic Republic of Sao Tome and Principe expressed gratitude for the hospitality provided and confirmed that the international Forum in Avaza opens up new opportunities for the sustainable development of landlocked developing countries and their integration into global economic relations.
During the negotiations, Turkmenistan’s commitment to developing friendly relations with foreign countries based on the legal status of neutrality, three times recognized by the United Nations, as well as its great interest in developing cooperation with African countries, were noted.
"We support active cooperation not only on a bilateral basis, but also within the framework of authoritative international organizations, primarily within the framework of the United Nations. In connection with the geographical location of your country and tourism opportunities, specific projects can be implemented in this direction," the President of Turkmenistan said.
The head of state noted that during the visit of President Carlos Manuel Vila Nova, the delegation of the Democratic Republic of Sao Tome and Principe will become thoroughly acquainted with the economic potential, production and export capabilities of Turkmenistan, and confirmed Turkmenistan’s readiness to support mutually beneficial cooperation in the event of specific proposals for its development.
