Turkmenistan, one of the first countries to adapt the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) at the national level, takes an active part in the implementation of the 2030 Agenda, actively interacting in this area with the United Nations and its specialized structures.

As the State News Agency of Turkmenistan reports, an important aspect of this multi-format dialogue is the unification of efforts in such a pressing area as ensuring food security and promoting sustainable agricultural development.

Issues of ensuring global food security are reflected in the Concept of Activities and Priorities of Turkmenistan within the framework of the International Year of Peace and Trust, marked by the 30th anniversary of the country's permanent neutrality.

In recent years, the country's cooperation with the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) has received new content, with a number of joint projects being implemented.

Turkmenistan has significant successful experience in implementing large-scale reforms in agriculture. As a result, food abundance has been created in the country, the source notes. Thus, this year more than 1 million 400 thousand tons of wheat have been harvested and delivered to the state.

In light of modern realities, sustainable development of agriculture is directly linked to the environmental factor. In this regard, Turkmenistan is implementing relevant measures within the framework of the National Strategy on Climate Change and the National Forestry Program.

The climate factor makes its own adjustments to traditional methods and forms of agriculture. This necessitates the adoption of immediate measures based on a coordinated approach. Turkmenistan consistently advocates the development of constructive cooperation, filling it with new specific content.

One of the instruments for implementing an important environmental task could be the UN Regional Climate Technology Centre for Central Asia, the initiative for the creation of which belongs to Turkmenistan.

The country's efforts to achieve the SDGs are supported by the UN and its specialized agencies, and other authoritative international and regional organizations.
