The Turkmenistan swimming team, consisting of four athletes, will take part in the World Aquatics Championships, which is being held in Singapore from July 11 to August 3, worldaquatics.com reports.
The national team includes David Akopyan (50 m butterfly, 200 m individual medley), Musa Zhalaev (50, 100 m freestyle), Anastasia Morginshtern (50, 100 m freestyle) and Aynura Primova (50, 100 m backstroke). The swimming competitions will be held from July 27 to August 3.
The World Championships are the second most important tournament in world swimming after the Olympic Games. An indoor 50-meter pool that meets Olympic standards was built in Singapore specifically for the competition.
The tournament will feature over 2500 athletes from 210 countries and territories, including world swimming stars: multiple Olympic champions Leon Marchand of France, Summer McIntosh of Canada, Katie Ledecky of the United States, Thomas Ceccon of Italy, and Kaylee McKeown of Australia. The prize fund for the championship is 6 million USD.
