Schoolchildren from Turkmenistan won 1 gold, 4 silver and 1 bronze medal at the 29th Balkan Junior Mathematical Olympiad (JBMO-2025), which was held in Struga, North Macedonia from June 24 to 29.
As reported by “Turkmenistan: Golden Age”, Turkmenistan was represented at the Olympiad by a national team of 6 schoolchildren, and each of them returned home with a well-deserved medal.
The gold medal was won by Hemra Gurbanov, a 9th-grade student of Ashgabat specialized secondary school No. 86 with advanced study of English, chemistry and biology. The 9th-grade students of the same school, Atabay Akmuradov and Yenish Akmammedov, were awarded silver medals.
Another two silver medals were won by Yusup Resulov and Parahat Ojarov, 9th-grade students of Ashgabat specialized secondary school No. 87 with advanced language studies. A bronze medal was won by Omar Dovranov, a 9th-grade student of Ashgabat specialized secondary school No. 83 with advanced English studies.
This year, 135 schoolchildren from 23 countries took part in the prestigious international competition, the source notes.
