U.S. Ambassador to Turkmenistan Elizabeth Rood expressed gratitude to President Serdar Berdimuhamedov and the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov for their assistance in evacuating American citizens from Iran during the days of escalation in the Middle East. She said this at a reception on the 249th anniversary of U.S. independence.
"The United States and Turkmenistan are always ready to help each other in difficult times. In this regard, I would also like to express the gratitude of the United States to the President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov, the National Leader and Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, as well as the government of Turkmenistan for their cooperation and warm welcome extended to our citizens leaving Iran in recent days," Rood said.
Earlier it was reported that Turkmenistan received 4 640 foreign citizens through the humanitarian corridor from Iran during the escalation of the situation in the Middle East.
