Turkmenistan and Belarus are expanding bilateral ties in the humanitarian sphere, including science, education, culture and sports. This was stated by the Ambassador of the Republic of Belarus to Turkmenistan Stanislav Chepurnoy in an article for the newspaper "Neutral Turkmenistan".
This year, the next meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission on Cooperation in Science and Technology will be held, at which it is planned to consider the state and prospects of scientific and technological cooperation and outline priorities for further joint work.
“We greatly appreciate that Turkmen youth choose our country to receive higher education, and we are proud that we train highly qualified specialists for Turkmenistan in various fields of activity,” the diplomat noted.
Sports cooperation is also actively developing. In February 2025, at the annual International Sambo Tournament for the Prizes of the President of the Republic of Belarus, Turkmen sambo wrestlers won an impressive set of medals, taking second place in the team standings and first place in combat sambo.
Work is underway to prepare a bilateral program of cooperation in the field of culture for a three-year period. It is planned to resume the practice of mutual exchange of Days of Culture of the countries. "Knowledge and understanding of each other's customs, traditions and culture brings our peoples even closer together," the ambassador emphasized.
Over the years of active cooperation, Belarus and Turkmenistan have created an impressive bilateral legal framework that covers all areas of interaction and consists of more than 100 international treaties of various levels.
