President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov held a meeting with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, during which the parties discussed issues of further development of bilateral strategic partnership, the State News Agency of Turkmenistan reports. The head of the Turkmen state conveyed warm greetings to President Vladimir Putin to the Russian diplomat and expressed confidence that the visit will serve to strengthen Turkmen-Russian relations.
During the talks, the head of state emphasized that Russia is a strategic partner of Turkmenistan, and bilateral cooperation is long-term and based on the principles of equality, trust and mutual respect. The parties noted that interstate relations are based on rich historical experience of interaction and strong ties of friendship.
During the exchange of views on the current state and prospects of partnership, the dynamics of the development of political dialogue between the countries was noted. Particular attention was paid to multifaceted contacts between the ministries and departments of the two states, inter-parliamentary cooperation and regular consultations between the foreign ministries of Turkmenistan and Russia.
