Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, Chairman of the Turkmen-Japanese Committee on Economic Cooperation Rashid Meredov held a meeting via videoconference with Chairman of the Japanese-Turkmen Committee on Economic Cooperation, Executive Vice President of Itochu Corporation Hiroyuki Tsubai, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan reported.
The parties discussed prospects for further development of bilateral relations. The participants of the meeting noted the important role of contacts at the highest and high levels in strengthening interstate ties.
Particular attention was paid to the visit of the Turkmen delegation headed by the President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov to Japan in April 2025. Within the framework of the visit, bilateral talks at the highest level and a meeting with representatives of Japanese business circles were held. The parties considered specific proposals of the President of Turkmenistan to expand trade and economic cooperation with Japan.
The meeting participants noted the sustainable and long-term nature of the economic partnership between the two countries, emphasizing the active work of the Turkmen-Japanese and Japanese-Turkmen Committees on Economic Cooperation as an important mechanism for interaction.
During the negotiations, issues of implementing previously reached agreements were considered, and new projects in the gas chemical and agricultural industries were discussed.
