Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan Nokerguly Atagulyev and Rais of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov held a meeting on the sidelines of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF), during which they discussed the prospects for the development of bilateral cooperation, the press service of the head of the Republic of Tatarstan reports.

Let us remind that Deputy Prime Minister Atagulyev, who oversees trade, textile industry and the private sector, is heading the delegation of Turkmenistan to the SPIEF by order of President Serdar Berdimuhamedov.

During the meeting, the head of Tatarstan expressed gratitude to the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov for his attention to the development of relations between the republic and Turkmenistan within the framework of Russian-Turkmen relations.

“The fraternal peoples are connected by deep historical ties, as well as fruitful trade and economic ties,” Minnikhanov emphasized.

According to him, large Tatarstan enterprises are successfully operating in Turkmenistan: KAMAZ, Kazan Helicopter Plant, Zelenodolsk Gorky Plant, KER-Holding, “Eidos”.

“It is necessary to give greater momentum to our economic cooperation. There is significant potential for developing ties in the areas of oil exploration, gas transportation, automobile, aircraft, shipbuilding, and chemical product supplies,” Rustam Minnikhanov emphasized.

The parties also noted the importance of developing cooperation in the fields of culture, science and education.
