On June 15, the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup was officially opened in the United States. The competition, which will last until July 13, brought together 32 of the best clubs from all continents of the planet.
The opening match at the Hard Rock Stadium in Miami between local Inter Miami and Egyptian Al Ahly ended in a goalless 0-0 draw. The American club, winner of the 2024 MLS regular season, hosted the team that won the 2023/24 CAF Champions League.
On Sunday, June 15, there will be two more matches: German Bayern will face New Zealand's Auckland City, and French Paris Saint-Germain will play against Spanish Atletico Madrid.
Tournament participants by continent
From Europe (UEFA), the tournament includes the strongest clubs of the continent:
- Chelsea (England) - Winner of the 2020/21 UEFA Champions League
- Real Madrid (Spain) - Two-time winner of the 2021/22 and 2023/24 UEFA Champions League
- Manchester City (England) - Winner of the 2022/23 UEFA Champions League
- Paris Saint-Germain (France) - Winner of the 2024/25 UEFA Champions League
- Bayern Munich (Germany), Inter Milan (Italy), Porto (Portugal), Benfica (Portugal), Borussia Dortmund (Germany), Juventus (Italy), Atletico Madrid (Spain) and Red Bull Salzburg (Austria) qualified based on the UEFA coefficient rankings.
South America (CONMEBOL) is represented by six teams:
- Palmeiras (Brazil) — winner of the 2021 Copa Libertadores
- Flamengo (Brazil) — winner of the 2022 Copa Libertadores
- Fluminense (Brazil) — winner of the 2023 Copa Libertadores
- Botafogo (Brazil) — winner of the 2024 Copa Libertadores
- River Plate (Argentina) and Boca Juniors (Argentina) — the best teams according to the CONMEBOL coefficient rating
Africa (CAF) is represented by four teams:
- Al Ahly (Egypt) — winner of the 2023/24 CAF Champions League
- Wydad (Morocco) — winner of the 2021/22 CAF Champions League
- Esperance Tunis (Tunisia) and Mamelodi Sundowns (South Africa) — according to the CAF coefficient rating
North and Central America (CONCACAF) fielded four clubs:
- Monterrey (Mexico) — winner of the 2021 CONCACAF Champions League
- Seattle Sounders (USA) — winner of the 2022 CONCACAF Champions League
- Pachuca (Mexico) — winner of the 2024 CONCACAF Champions Cup
- Los Angeles (USA) — winner of the play-in match
Oceania (OFC) is represented by one club:
