Ashgabat and Ulaanbaatar will become sister cities, a document on this was signed following negotiations between the Presidents of Turkmenistan and Mongolia, Serdar Berdimuhamedov and Ukhnaagiin Khurelsukh, the State News Agency of Turkmenistan reports.
Serdar Berdimuhamedov was on a state visit to Mongolia on June 1-2, as a result of which 14 documents were signed, including a memorandum on the establishment of sister city relations between the cities of Ashgabat and Ulaanbaatar between the Ashgabat city administration and the Ulaanbaatar city administration.
The document was signed by Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan Baymyrat Annamammedov and Mayor of Ulaanbaatar Khishgeegiin Nyambaatar.
The memorandum is aimed at developing cooperation in the innovation, trade, economic, scientific, technical, cultural, sports and tourism fields based on mutual trust and respect, the Mongolian agency MONTSAME reported.
