President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov held a meeting with the newly appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Saudi Arabia Amer bin Ali Al-Shehri, during which the diplomat presented his credentials to the head of state, TDH reports.

During the talks, the parties discussed the current state and prospects of bilateral relations. It was noted that trade turnover between the countries is growing annually, and all the necessary conditions exist for further intensification of cooperation.

Among the promising areas of cooperation between Turkmenistan and Saudi Arabia, the fuel and energy complex, trade, investment, transport and communications sector, chemical industry, as well as textile and agricultural industries were highlighted. In addition, the meeting participants emphasized the significant potential for joint work in the fields of culture, science and art.

President Serdar Berdimuhamedov emphasized that Turkmenistan attaches particular importance to strengthening the traditional ties of friendship and brotherhood with Saudi Arabia, calling the bilateral dialogue a model of cooperation based on trust, mutual respect and equality.

The successful interaction of the two states within the framework of international organizations, including the UN and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, was also noted. The head of Turkmenistan expressed gratitude to the Saudi side for supporting the country’s initiatives and proposals on the world stage.

At the end of the meeting, the President of Turkmenistan confirmed the country’s commitment to the traditionally mutually beneficial dialogue with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and emphasized the importance of studying the rich historical and cultural heritage of both peoples.
