Chinese developers have created a unique bionic hand prosthesis capable of performing a wide range of complex actions — from everyday tasks to fine motor skills. The device allows users to freely manipulate a smartphone, play chess, use sign language and even do handicrafts, writes bigasia.ru.
The innovative development surpasses existing analogues in many parameters. The prosthesis is equipped with 19 degrees of freedom, which is almost twice as much as standard models. At the same time, its weight is only 370 grams — noticeably less than traditional prostheses, the weight of which exceeds 400 grams.
The developrs also paid attention to the functionality of the device, implementing 33 different grip modes. The design uses modern materials with shape memory, which act as artificial muscles, responding to temperature changes. The motion transmission system accurately imitates the work of human tendons.
The prosthesis Is controlled using voice commands, and the recognition system supports 60 languages and 20 dialects. Recognition accuracy reaches 95%, and reaction time is measured in milliseconds, which ensures an almost instant response to user commands.
