Chinese astronauts set new world record in outer space

The crew of the Chinese spacecraft Shenzhou-19 set a new world record for the duration of stay in outer space. According to the China Manned Space Agency (CMSA), taikonauts Cai Xuzhe and Song Lingdong spent nine hours in outer space, performing various technical tasks, including installing protective equipment against space debris, Mail.ru writes.

This result surpassed the previous record, which had stood since March 11, 2001, when NASA astronauts James Voss and Susan Helms spent 8 hours and 56 minutes outside the shuttle Discovery.
