The TURKSOY Forum on the topic «New Renaissance: the role of cinema and media in preserving cultural heritage» was held in Uzbekistan as part of the VIII International Congress «Heritage of Great Ancestors – the Foundation of the Third Renaissance».

Representatives of the film industry from Turkic-speaking countries took part in the forum. Participants shared their experiences, advice and recommendations in the field of film production.

The film project «Magtymguly » attracted special attention, yuz.uz reports. This year, under the auspices of UNESCO, the 300th anniversary of the great Turkmen poet, philosopher, classic of Turkmen literature Magtymguly Fragi is widely celebrated.

During the presentation of the film project, the deputy chairman of the Oguz Han Turkmenfilm Association and consultant of the project, Sahysalykh Bayramov, spoke. It was noted that the idea to make a feature film about Magtymguly was put forward by the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev within the framework of the decree on celebrating the poet's anniversary in Uzbekistan. In accordance with this, the Cinematography Agency under the Ministry of Culture of Uzbekistan began work and proposed the Turkmenfilm association to implement the project jointly. The director was Muzafar Erkinov, with the Turkmen actor Ahmet Amandurdyev playing the leading role.

The presentation of the full-length feature film «Magtymguly» will be held in Turkmenistan at the International Film Festival of Turkic Countries «Korkut Ata» in November this year.

The forum also included a presentation of historical films, including: «Masjid» (jointly with the Russian studio «Lendok»), «The Century of the Turks» (filming with Turkish filmmakers) and other projects.
