The Turkmenistan U17 national football team defeated their peers from Kyrgyzstan with a score of 2:0 in the match for 5th place at the Central Asian Football Association (CAFA) Championship in Dushanbe. Goals were scored by Kakamyrat Babayev from the penalty spot in the 17th minute and Muhammedali Nasyrov in the 49th minute.
This victory permitted the Turkmen team to finish its debut performance at the CAFA U-17 tournament in fifth place. Earlier in the group stage, Ahmet Allaberdiyev's team lost to the national teams of Uzbekistan (0:1) and Iran (1:6).
The CAFA U-17 tournament has become an important stage in the preparation of the youth team of Turkmenistan for the upcoming qualifying round of the 2025 Asian Cup. The qualifying matches will be held from October 23 to 27 in
Thailand, where the Turkmen team will meet the teams of Thailand, India and Brunei in group “D”.
