"Real", the current Champions League winners, have five UEFA Super Cup wins to their credit. "Barcelona" and "Milan" have the same number of wins. A victory in the upcoming match will permit the "Madrid" team to take sole charge of the list of the most titled clubs in the history of this tournament.

This will be "Atalanta's" debut in the UEFA Super Cup. The Bergamo club won the right to participate in the match by beating "Bayer" Leverkusen in the Europa League final.
