Secretary General of the World Tourism Organization Zurab Pololikashvili highly appreciated the tourism potential of Turkmenistan and expressed readiness to expand cooperation. He stated this in a commentary for the “Neutral Turkmenistan” newspaper at the international conference “Main directions and potential for tourism development in Turkmenistan”.
“Having arrived in Turkmenistan, we were able to appreciate with our own eyes all the beauty of your country, its successes and achievements”, - Pololikashvili said and thanked the country’s leadership for organizing the conference at a high level.
The head of UNWTO emphasized that the ancient and unique Turkmen culture is one of the strengths of the country with a long history. “I am confident that Turkmenistan has great potential for attracting tourists. Colossal work has been carried out in recent years. But we can do a lot more together”, - Pololikashvili said.
He especially emphasized Turkmen hospitality and warm attitude towards guests. This is Pololikashvili’s first visit to Turkmenistan, but, according to him, not the last. The head of UNWTO is confident that cooperation will continue and representatives of the tourism industry will meet more than once in Ashgabat.
