A pair of porcupines were among the animals on display at the festival, listed in the Red Book of Turkmenistan. According to popular belief, if a baby of an endangered species is born with the advent of Nowruz, then this year will bring prosperity and happiness, Asmannews reports.

There are 9 nature reserves on the territory of Turkmenistan, where unique animals such as porcupine, leopard, Turkmen mountain sheep, honey badger, striped hyena and others are protected.
