The National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov had a telephone conversation with the head of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation Valentina Matvienko, writes TDH.

The interlocutors positively assessed the development of Turkmen-Russian relations in 2023. There was an intensification of cooperation in the political, trade, economic and humanitarian spheres.

“As you know, today the Russian Federation is going through a crucial period in public life. The upcoming presidential elections in the Russian Federation in March next year will undoubtedly become an important stage in the implementation of political, economic, and social reforms aimed at resolving important issues facing the state and society. A firm conviction was expressed that the multinational people of Russia will make the right historical choice and thereby determine the fate of many generations of Russians for the long term,” comments TDH.

Among the priorities of the partnership, the parties highlighted trade and economic cooperation and interaction in the socio-cultural sphere. It was noted that a meeting of the Turkmen-Russian intergovernmental commission will be held in Ashgabat early next year, the agenda of which will include a wide range of issues related to realizing the potential of cooperation in the economy, education, science and other areas.

At the end of the conversation, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov congratulated Valentina Matvienko on the upcoming New Year and wished her good health, prosperity and success in responsible government activities.
